The History of Solar Power

The use of solar power is a form of energy that should be used by as many people as possible. It is a form of pure energy that comes from the sun that is derived and clean. The creation of solar power and its use by humans seems to go back as early as the 7th century B.C. The example of using sunlight to light fires with a magnifying glass is one prime example. Although solar power has been around since that time, it has shown significant efficiency in the last 30 years.

Using solar energy as a primary source of electricity comes with its ups and downs. People like to think that if they switch over to using solar energy as their power source, they can use as much as they want. However, that is not the case, and you still have to limit the use of it. Like anything else in the world, solar energy still needs time to develop and still needs to be researched about its efficiency. But with solar energy being such high hope for our planet, there is lots of research being done.

It wasn’t until the late 1900s where more research and more money were invested into solar energy. Part of the reason for the delay in research was the tensions in the oil and gas industries. Another issue was the obstacles faced in converting the energy into solar power. There have been thousands of research studies done and thousands of prototypes made, but it didn’t come easy to these researchers. It wasn’t until individuals started changing the materials used and then the progression of solar energy increased.

When solar energy first came around, the pricing for it was out of this world. Unfortunately, it wasn’t affordable to everyone, and that caused not many people to get it. As time has gone by, though, solar power technology has most certainly become more affordable. Converting over to solar power at first is still an investment, but in the end, it is worth it for the homeowner and the planet. Listed below are three reasons as to why home solar is an excellent choice.

  1. You have control over your electricity.

By having home solar panels, you are now free from utility companies. Meaning, you can avoid high electricity rates and have backup power when everyone around you is out. The price of electricity fluctuates. But over the past couple of years, it has continued to increase. That being said, with solar power, you know what your payment will be every year.

2. Increase in home value

By using solar panels, your home value can increase by 4.1% on average. 4.1% might not sound like a lot, but when you put it in the perspective of, if your house costs $600,000, it could potentially increase $24,600, it is most certainly a lot. Of course, putting solar panels in is an investment; however, whether you plan on selling in the future or making your home your lifelong home, it will only benefit you from there on out.

3. Costs have decreased

Like said previously, the cost of installing solar panels has most certainly decreased over the years, and that makes it just another reason to get them installed. While the price of getting them installed may still be pricy for some, most companies have come out with agreements to make it more affordable for customers.

Knowing the history of solar panels is informative for individuals. Whether you have thought of installing them before or never have heard of them, it is vital to know how beneficial solar power is. Individuals still cannot forget that you still have to limit energy use; however, solar power is the energy that most people should aim to use.
